Several amendments to the BC Occupational Health & Safety Regulations on May 1, 2017, have made building owners and building managers more liable for asbestos-containing materials in their buildings. In addition to specific pre-renovation hazardous materials surveys, it is now mandatory to prepare a written asbestos inventory of all asbestos-containing materials in the workplace.
Fortunately, a well-designed asbestos management program and asbestos inventory can increase the efficiency and safety of building operations and provide a more comprehensive overview of the building’s liabilities.
